This did the job perfectly for me for a "Joker" look for a convention. The color stood out, didn't fade, and easily washed out after having it in my hair for 16 hrs.! Only recommendation is to wash your hair a few times thoroughly to get all the color out if you have in on your head as long as I did.

i have black\brown hair it made it very stiff and would not color some darker spots of my hair may take a few washes to get it all out it also stained my wall when i was puting it on my hair lol

Product Description

1. Shampoo Hair without conditioning, then dry hair thoroughly. 2. Apply petroleum jelly around hairline and on ears. 3. Wear plastic gloves to avoid staining hands. 4. Empty desired amount into plastic bowl. (Approximately 1/2 bottle for short hair, 3/4 bottle for longer hair.) 5. Apply evenly with tint brush, just enough to saturate hair. Do not apply to scalp. 6. Comb through hair thoroughly and leave in hair for approximately 15-30 minutes. 7. Rinse dye away from face then shampoo as normal. - Colors will be more intense and last longer on bleached hair. (May last 8 weeks or longer on bleached hair.) - Colors will give a highlight effect to dark hair. - Color fades gradually with each shampoo. - Generally lasts 3 to 6 weeks depending on hair type

This color never, ever, ever fades.
I had dark brown hair (dyed) and bleached it to a dark golden blond.
The color turned out perfect magenta and stayed in my hair for over three months before I decided to change style. It never even started to fade.
Still now, after dying my hair brown black I can still see hints of the color were it used to be. And the other parts of my hair that I bleached over are still pinkish.
Be caferul when dying tho... this will stain everything!! It stained my tub, brush, pillows, even the straightening iron is still pink.

Special Effects just might be the best semi-permanent dye on the market and Virgin Rose is just beautiful. The color payoff is intense, dimensional and insanely glossy. I never bleached my light/medium brown hair before applying and still got wonderful results with deep color.

If you want a dye that will come out completely (like for kids or a short-term change), this is NOT the product for you. It did stain my hair permanently. Of course, this is a plus for those of us who want our color to last and last.

I use this product to put just a streak of color at the front of my hair. I don't bleach beforehand, but even with my naturally dark brown hair this product gives a magenta highlight that especially stands out in the sun. It turns the water bright pink the first time I shower, but after that it doesn't bleed on pillows or clothing or anything. It's more reddish than purple, so if you're wanting a strong purple color go with another dye. I love this color and will buy again.

1. shampoo hair using a ph acid balanced shampoo. towel dry. 2. empty desired amount into a plastic bowl (1/2 bottle for short hair- full bottle for long hair.) apply evenly with a tint brush. 3. do not apply to scalp, but 1/2 inch from scalp. saturate hair thoroughly. comb evenly through the hair until it becomes frothy. 4. leave on hair about 25 minutes. 5. rinse hair thoroughly, wash away from the faace. works best on hair pre- lightened to a very light blonde. fades gradually with each shampoo

This item is difficult to review. First of all, the red is amazing. Gorgeous! The best red I've seen, I love it. My hair is dark brown, and the red showed up nicely.

That's the good news. The bad is that the red washed out within two washes. And, this was the most difficult dye I ever worked with. It stained my ceramic tiles, the grout, my face, my arms and nails, my floor. It ruined my bathroom carpet. I use dye all the time, and yes, it splatters, but always if I wipe it quickly, it is fine. And never had I had my shower and tub stained so badly.

So, make your own choice. The red is excellent but be careful! Other Manic Panic red dyes last longer and don't stain things that are not your hair as badly, but are not as brilliant a red either.

My hair is really black so when I put it on and there wasn't much change in my hair color I wasn't surprised but what really got to me were the stains that it left behind. Some of the product fell on the counter and when I wiped it off there was a whole bunch of pink leftover. Also do as it says do not let the product touch your scalp because tight now my scalp is hot pink. My hands and nails are still pink because I made an elementary mistake and washed the product out without any gloves on.
